Victoria MacRae
Biography
Victoria MacRae spent her childhood in the north of England before moving to Edinburgh to study design. After graduating - winning the Sir Edmund Hudson Memorial Quaich - she worked in 3D design for several years, designing commercial interiors, exhibitions, and furniture, as well as working as a set designer for short films. More recently she has begun to shift her focus to more conceptual work, exploring the potential of digital media and particularly lens-based art. She also works part time as a church caretaker, and enjoys bagging Scottish islands.
Exhibition
Vic MacRae has launched a touring exhibition entitled ‘Outside the Narrative’ at the Scottish Parliament January 2010. The exhibition provides a first hand account and unique insight into her personal experience as a mental health service user. It consists of words and images, photography, and an audio piece How to Fly in Formation. It is supported by mental health charity Penumbra, Knucker Press, and sponsored by Richard Simpson MSP.
